A New Face for the Shopfront

The most immediate change is to the exterior. We've painted the whole shopfront in a beautiful heritage brown-beige, based on the colours found on Victorian cast-iron urns. It's a warm, earthy tone and works so well alongside Hexham's sandstone buildings. The colour is also a nod to the famous Hexham Shambles - a covered Grade II* listed marketplace built in 1766. Just up the street from our shop, this was renovated recently and has had a lick of paint in a very similar colour. 

The shop façade colour is finished off perfectly with some signage. A talented signwriter has hand-painted the French & Wilder name in crisp white lettering along with our French street sign motif.

It looks, honestly, exactly as we always imagined it should - like a stylish, elegant French boutique that has been there for years and intends to stay.

Meet Our New Centrepiece: The Victorian Oak Counter

Inside, we've taken delivery of a piece we've been searching for for quite some time.

It's a magnificent antique Victorian oak shop counter - a grand, curved bar-style piece with beautifully carved wooden panels that feels like it belongs in a Parisian apothecary. It even has its own coin slot on the top! It sits underneath a pair of industrial pendant lampshades that we made from upturned chicken feeders we found in France! Altogether, it's a statement that looks so French & Wilder!

And it's not just a beautiful object. It's about to become something rather special...

Introducing the French & Wilder Fragrance Bar

This magnificent counter will now serve as our new Fragrance Bar - a dedicated space to explore our full range of scents in one place, properly, the way fragrance deserves to be experienced.

We've created a beautiful Fragrance Bar Menu to guide you through everything on offer, and the range is something we're genuinely proud of.

Wax melts

£12 for a box of nine, they come in five scents: Neroli de Lune, Radiant Peony, Wilder Verbena, Essential Calm, and Wild Fig. Gentle, long-lasting, and with wonderfully French scents. These - like our scented candles - are hand poured right here in Hexham.

Scented candles

£28, beautifully presented in a calico gift bag. These candles are available in the same five fragrances as the wax melts. They make a genuinely lovely gift, or an indulgence entirely for yourself. No apologies necessary!

Diffusers

£34 for the full set of flower, glass bottle and fragrance oil. They come in nine scents, and are available only in our shop. Choose from a wide range of fragrances, to suit any room or mood:

• Floral fragrances such as: Tea Rose, Lavender & Linen, and Oriental Jasmine;
• Fresh and green fragrances like: Fig & Vetiver, Geranium & Thyme, Orangerie, and English Rhubarb;
• Or earthy, spicy and warming fragrances such as: Warm Oudh, and Tabac Amber.

These flower diffusers are always a fantastic talking point - so much more elegant and longer lasting than reed diffusers. Indeed, a single fragrance bottle will last months, and the flower and bottle can be reused again and again, resulting in less waste.

Perfumes

These are made just a couple of miles outside of Hexham and come in a range of ten French-inspired scents, priced from £13 for a 10ml and £26 for a 50ml, with certain fragrances at £14 and £28 respectively. Among them, you'll find our own French & Wilder exclusive: Bergamot & Ginger - a vibrant, warm, scent combining crisp citrus with a hint of ginger spice. Alongside it, you'll discover Verbenas of Provence, Saffron & Amber, Rose, Oud, and more. We'd love for you to come and try them in person. Fragrance really does need to be worn, not just read about.
