Autumn Arrivals Are Here: New French-Inspired Treasures Now Online
There is a particular moment each autumn when the light turns golden, the evenings draw in, and one begins to think about candles, cosy corners and the gifts still to be found. It is, for us, the loveliest time of year in the shop at 25 Market Place, and we are delighted to say that our newest arrivals are now live on the website.
Whether you are visiting us in Hexham or browsing from your own sofa, here is a look at the exciting products that have arrived.
Jumbo tote bags with a past
Our new jumbo tote bags are, quite simply, our favourite things to arrive this season. Each of the three designs begins with a story.
- The SNCF tote is inspired by an antique bag once used on French overnight trains to carry blankets and pillows. One can almost hear the rumble of the sleeper carriage and smell the coffee on the platform at dawn.
· The French adverts tote is our largest design, assembled from dozens of original advertisements from French magazines of the late 1920s. It is a little piece of Art Deco Paris that you can carry on your shoulder.
· The Toile de Jouy tote comes in a gorgeous turquoise, drawn from a piece of antique French wallpaper. Pastoral scenes, softly romantic, and utterly timeless.
Made from thick 309gsm half Panama cotton, these tote bags are strong, sturdy and generous in size, which makes them ideal for larger shopping trips, market days and weekends away. They are the kind of bag that is lovely to look at and built to be used, and used again.
Larger washbags, made for the journey
If you loved our washbags, you will be pleased to hear that we have introduced larger washbags in two of our most-loved designs: French adverts and Toile de Jouy. With extra room for bigger cosmetics collections and longer trips, they are a lovely nod to le voyage, whether that is a weekend in the Dales or a far grander adventure. They also make a wonderfully thoughtful gift.
Bergamot & Ginger hand and body cream ✨
Those of you who have fallen for our Bergamot & Ginger eau de parfum will know that the scent is bright, warm and quietly luxurious. We are thrilled to introduce its companion: a new Bergamot & Ginger hand and body cream, scented to match the perfume.
It is made with a cocoa butter and sweet almond oil formula, a rich, comforting blend for hands that have been out in the autumn chill. Wear the cream and the perfume together and you have a signature scent that lingers beautifully.
Two new candle sets: the Calming Set and the Floral Set 🕯️
Choosing a scented candle can be a delicious dilemma, so we have made it easier. Our two new gift sets each contain three smaller votive candles, in the style of a little discovery collection, so you can try a range of fragrances before choosing a favourite (or simply enjoy all three). Choose between the Calming Set or Floral Set.
The Calming Set
· Essential Calm: pure essential oils of lavender, sweet orange and cedarwood. Serene and soothing.
· Wild Fig: an earthy blend of sweet fig and warming vetiver. Luscious, mellow, exotic and cosy.
· Winter & Wilder: warming winter spices with a hint of citrus. Rich and inviting.
The Floral Set
· Radiant Peony: blooming florals and crisp fruits with musk and amber. Sumptuous and elegant.
· Wilder Verbena: bright verbena, citrus and jasmine, grounded by warm amber, musk and cedarwood. A fresh, comforting glow.
· Neroli de Lune: radiant orange blossom, heady jasmine and smoky incense. Moonlit calm and quiet optimism.
These sets arrive in good time for Christmas, but they are with us all year round, so they make a thoughtful gift for a birthday, a thank-you or a well-deserved treat for yourself in any season. Our full-size scented candles remain a firm favourite in the shop, too.

We are building up our Christmas window in Hexham, and our glass baubles are already twinkling in the shop (in store only). Do pop in to see them. 🎁
